Xiaomi has offered the Redmi Note 8 Pro, its most competitive mobile, at 229 euros with a Terminator gift cover. Run because it is a flash offer.
During 2019 Xiaomi has managed to create a solid catalog, and it is that practically every new model that brings out the brand is a new recommended purchase.
This could be a good indication, but it is also inconvenient. The brand itself has a problem being the competition itself as they launch models so frequently that in the end it is difficult to decide which one is worth it.
The Redmi Note 8 for 229 euros and Terminator cover
If I had to reduce the entire catalog of the brand I would do it to 4 models: Redmi Note 7 if your budget is low, Redmi Note 8 Pro as a better balance, and the Mi 9T and 9T Pro if you want the most of the most.
For this reason, if a team like the Redmi Note 8 Pro is on offer flash at a spectacular price, then the recommendation is double. And, as I mentioned, this is the most recommended equipment for its balance.
What fascinates me most about the Redmi Note 8 Pro is that, without being good at anything, its virtue is that it has absolutely everything . It is fast, the screen is usable outdoors, the battery is prodigious and compatible with all fast charges, it has NFC, microSD memory expansion, headphone jack compatible with FM radio, infrared port to control the TV or air conditioning.
This mobile is on offer flash on the official Xiaomi website. It costs 249 euros the version of 64 GB to 229, also giving us a Terminator cover, an important incentive if you are a fan of movies. The 128 GB version has no discount, and remains at 269 euros, yes.
I think it is a worthwhile offer if you are looking for a mobile that works in any situation. But if you have any questions, you can read our analysis to know the terminal in more detail. Of course, consider that being a flash offer, the same as you decide, there are no more units left.
We analyze the Redmi Note 8 Pro, a mobile that without standing out at all achieves a perfect balance in all its features.
A few weeks ago Redmi announced its new Redmi Note 8 and Redmi Note 8 Pro . The latter stands out for being the first mobile of the Xiaomi sub-brand to integrate a 64 megapixel camera, in addition to having excellent performance and battery.
The best version of the Redmi Note 8 has arrived in Spain and we have spent a few days using it as the main mobile to tell you our impressions. A mobile that we loved, not for what it has, but for not giving up absolutely nothing in an era in which the high-end is increasingly limited according to what features.

A known design that works
The Redmi Note 8 Pro design does not leave any kind of surprises. It is a design that does not risk or stand out among other mobiles. Perhaps the forest green color model is the one that attracts the most attractive, but the black model we have tried is not very different from the rest of the mobile phones on the market.
We have a terminal that uses Gorilla Glass 5 both in the front and in the back, as well as plastic frames with a glossy finish. As usual in this type of mobile, it is easy to stain with the grease of our hands, something that is not a surprise given the tendency of the market to add glass to all mobiles.
We like the location of the power and volume buttons, both located on the right side of the computer. Accessible and very useful for using the volume buttons as a camera shutter.
In the lower area we find the speaker, USB C port and headphone jack. Not only do we have the connector, but we also support FM Radio, something that more than one user will appreciate.
On the other hand, in the upper part we appreciate another port that is less and less present, but that does not stop mentioning it. We talk about the infrared port, which will allow us to control the television, the air conditioning or any other device that has infrared control.
Finally, on the left side we appreciate the tray for SIM and microSD cards. We can choose two SIM cards or a SIM and expand the memory with a microSD card, something very useful if we consider how cheap 128 GB cards are .
However, there is a part of the design that has horrified us, directly reminding me of the worst part of the Pocophone F1 . The protrusion of the camera is a bit sharp, something that if it were only one aspect of the camera would not be much trouble, but it is also affecting the fingerprint reader. A not very large reader that makes the unlock experience not too pleasant.
The only thing that highlights the design of the Redmi Note 8 is its bad design for the fingerprint reader, which obliges us to carry a case.
This problem disappears if we use a phone case, so it is not a major problem either. Fortunately Redmi includes a case in the device case. Its rubbery touch is not very pleasant, but at least it serves to protect the phone while we look for a case that fits our style.
A very fast mobile with a little known processor
The Redmi Note 8 Pro is fast, very fast. The system does not suffer slowdowns, applications open quickly, games work with a good level of fluidity. It is one of the fastest average ranges we have tried, being faster than even Xiaomi itself with a higher price.
What is the secret to this performance? In addition to having a system as polished as MIUI 10 is on Android 9 Pie, the key aspect is in the hardware, one of Redmi’s strengths.
We have 6 GB of RAM accompanied by high-speed UFS2.1 memories and a Helio G90T processor that Xiaomi says is more powerful than the Snapdragon 710, a chip that strangely used in higher-priced phones, such as the Mi 9 Lite . This chip is little known, and many may have doubts about its performance. What does the best MediaTek processor offer?
But what problems can a MediaTek have? Myths and realities
MediaTek has been for years a manufacturer of processors not recommended for those looking for good phones. The main reason is that for years they have been focused on creating low-cost processors for low-cost mobiles, something that has damaged the brand image to the point that many want to avoid the brand directly.
But the MediaTek Helio G90T is a very different chip than those low-end mobile processors you remember. Still does not reach the level of the best Qualcomm, Samsung or Huawei, but it has reached some levels of performance that make it a product at the height of the mid-high-end chips. What’s so special about this MediaTek that the others didn’t have?
Standard high-performance architectures : At the CPU level we have 2 high-performance Cortex A76 cores, solving the typical problem of the brand, which traditionally only used cores of high efficiency and limited performance.
Being focused on video games, it also includes a 4-core Mali G-76 GPU. A standard architecture of the ARM itself.
There are no GPS problems : this is already a thing of the past.
No fast charging problems : many phones with MediaTek have absences with fast charging. In this Redmi it is not like that, since it has the Power Delivery standard , with Qualcomm Quickcharge 4+ and MediaTek’s own fast charge. We have tested with our chargers that we already had at home that meet the standards and work.
First concern, the ROMs : If you are going to leave the mobile with the Xiaomi system version this does not matter, but if you are one of those who enjoy installing ROMs this can be a problem. In theory, being a mobile that supports Project Treble should not have problems, being the system and hardware support in different modules, but until ROMs begin to arrive we recommend caution.
The main concern of this chip would be the incompatibility with the Google camera : Today, Google image processing software is the best, and it works wonders when installed in these mid-range cameras. Installing the Google camera is not a trivial process, and that there is an application compatible with our mobile in many cases depends on having hardware as close as possible to Google Pixel. This mobile may never receive a port from the Google camera, and it is something you should consider.
An extraordinary battery
Beyond proper performance, perhaps the aspect that we liked most about this mobile is its battery, being a mobile that has offered us much more than we expected.
With a battery of 4500 mAh combined with components that do not consume too much energy and efficient management of the system we have been able to withstand most days with an approximate 55% battery in a typical use of navigation, messaging, GPS, photography and music to via bluetooth With a more moderate use is a mobile with which we have been able to endure up to two days.
This battery is more limited if we are gamers, since video games are the type of application that consumes the most energy. And yet he will be able to endure a day in which we play for several hours. In this aspect, the Redmi Note 8 Pro is outstanding.
We have battery, efficiency and compatibility with all fast charges.
Compatibility with all standard fast loads is also a factor to consider. The mobile itself has an 18 W charger, capable of charging the battery at the speed indicated in the following graphic. It may not be the fastest in the market, but at least we have compatibility to have fast charging with virtually any powerbank (if you need it, of course).
64 megapixels that meet, but do not fall in love
Perhaps the part we most expected, and the one that has surprised us the least, is photography. At first, one can think that with four cameras and a 64 megapixel sensor, photography was going to be one of the strongest points of the mobile. And perhaps it has left us cold precisely because of everything it promised.
Let’s start with simpler. What do the four cameras offer us and what are they for?
The main sensor is a Samsung ISOCELL Bright GW1 , a 64 Mpx sensor. This sensor applies Pixel Binning technology, which consists of using smaller pixels and combining them into a larger pixel, getting more accurate information.
In the case of 64 Mpx, the final result produced by these sensors are 16 Mpx images. There is a way that if you take 64 Mpx images, but it is more limited because you cannot use HDR, recommended only for scenes with optimal lighting.
Ultra-wide 8 Mpx sensor : the latest fashion in photography, images with more information in exchange for greater distortion. A photography mode that is addictive in certain situations.
2 Mpx depth sensor : It helps the main camera to detect depth, getting a more accurate portrait mode.
2 Mpx sensor for macro photography : When we press the macro mode, we can get very close to the point we want to photograph and get the image to be well focused.
In terms of versatility we do not have any type of complaint, since except telephoto (by software we can get a 2x zoom without much loss) we do not have any type of absence. Although results are not surprising either.
Part of the fault is in the absence of a saved HDR mode , since every time we want to use it we will have to activate it manually. Even so, activating the dynamic range leaves a bit to be desired, and the image processing is not much better than the rest of the equipment we have seen in the mid-range.
We expected a lot from the 64 Mpx sensor and what has convinced us the most is the macro mode.
Eye, it is not a bad camera, but we want you to avoid thinking that by having 64 megapixels you will have a better camera than more expensive mobiles that “only have 12 megapixels”. In the end, the work of the sensor is important, but it is the software that makes it shine. And the software is not yet ready to make the most of these sensors.
Its greatest virtue is the absence of defects
There are many aspects in which we have not stopped to speak carefully. The reason is that they don’t stand out, even though they comply.
For example, the brightness of the screen is great, being able to use the phone in full sun without any difficulty, but the panel itself has no more virtues. The same goes for the sound: it sounds strong and of sufficient quality, but it will not make you fall in love.
The Redmi Note 8 Pro is a mobile made for those who are looking for reliable equipment, with sufficient speed, an extraordinary battery and without any absences.
Power, battery, camera, memory, jack, microSD, infrared, even FM radio. The Redmi Note 8 Pro is excellent for not giving up anything.
A mobile that not only puts the competition in a hurry, but also the Xiaomi catalog itself, being the most complete product at the most balanced price and a great competitor for the extraordinary Galaxy A50 and Motorola One Vision.
MIUI India has confirmed the update dates to MIUI 11 global and stable for a good amount of Xiaomi and Redmi phones.
Updates are the order of the day, especially since the last version of Android , number 10, came out. All brands have been positioned around the new software, also Xiaomi; which has taken the opportunity to update its custom layer to the next version, MIUI 11 .
The new version of the layer was being tested in beta form in China. We had approximate dates for the release of the stable version. And it has been MIUI India that, taking advantage of an event in New Delhi, has taken the opportunity to confirm them ; together with the majority of mobiles that will have MIUI 11 available . Remember, this does not imply that they also update to Android 10.
From October to December: MIUI 11 stable global will reach more than 30 Xiaomi, Redmi and Pocophone mobiles
MIUI India’s picture
As we said, the dates and mobiles that will update to MIUI 11 are confirmed. This does not imply that, if you have the indicated mobile, the update will arrive exactly on the proposed day: Xiaomi updates are staggered . Yes it is confirmed that a good amount of global mobiles will receive the update before the end of the year. And many will also update to Android 10 .
As MIUI India has highlighted, these are the dates and mobiles that will update to MIUI 11 :
Phase 1, from October 22 to 31 : Pocophone F1, Redmi K20 (Xiaomi Mi 9T), Redmi Y3, Redmi 7, Redmi Note 7, Redmi Note 7s, Redmi Note 7 Pro.
Phase 2, from November 4 to 12 : Redmi K20 Pro (Xiaomi Mi 9T), Redmi 6, Redmi 6 Pro, Redmi 6A, Redmi Note 5, Redmi Note 5 Pro, Redmi 5, Redmi 5A, Redmi Note 4, Redmi Y1 , Redmi Y1 Lite, Redmi Y2, Redmi 4, Mi Mix 2, Mi Max 2.
Phase 3, from November 13 to 29 : Redmi Note 6 Pro, Redmi 7A, Redmi 8, Redmi 8A, Redmi Note 8.
Phase 4, December 18-26: Redmi Note 8 Pro.
This is an official list with dates where many Xiaomi phones are missing, but that does not mean they refrain from updates. According to the MIUI page in English , the previous phases should incorporate the following Xiaomi mobiles :
Phase 1 : Mi 8 Pro, Mi 8, Mi 8 Lite, MI MIX 3, MI MIX 2S.
Phase 2 : Mi 9 Lite, Mi MIX 2, Mi MIX, Mi 6, Mi Note 3, Mi Note 2, Mi Max 2, Mi Play.
The lists are constantly updated, so I’m sure that more mobile phones are added to MIUI 11 updates. Remember: receiving this version of the layer does not imply updating to Android 10 since the Android version is separated from MIUI.
Xiaomi has decided to apply a 21% discount to many of its mobile phones and accessories. On sale are the Xiaomi Mi 9, the Redmi 7 and many more.
Tomorrow will be the presentation event of the new realme terminals in Spain. As we have said on occasion, this brand, a subsidiary of OPPO, may become Xiaomi’s main rival in our country.
But Lei Jun’s firm does not sit idly by and has prepared a week of offers and discounts on its website. He has called it the week without VAT because many of his products will have a 21% discount , sometime between October 14 and 20 of the same month.
There are many devices but we wanted to select the ones that have caught our attention.
Xiaomi Mi A3
The best Xiaomi Android One lowers the price to 197.52 euros in its version of 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB of internal memory and at 230.58 euros if we want it with 4 GB of RAM and 128 GB of internal memory.
Xiaomi Mi 8 Lite
If we want a terminal with MIUI but of contained size, we can choose the Xiaomi Mi 8 Lite, which costs 147.93 euros in its version of 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB of internal memory and 189.26 euros if we want it with 4 GB of RAM and 128 GB of internal memory.
Xiaomi Mi 9
The high range also falls in price. In particular the Xiaomi Mi 9 which in its simplest version, the 6 GB of RAM and 64 GB of internal memory costs 371.07 euros .
Although it is not a mobile, we want to highlight the Xiaomi bulb, a product that has been bought a lot by importation and that we can now buy at 16.44 euros in Spain , with its guarantee as is logical. A perfect accessory if you already have an Alexa or Google Home speaker.

If you want to see all the products that are available, including accessories, you can go to the official Xiaomi website in Spain:
Redmi, one of Xiaomi’s subsidiaries, has shown the first image of the Redmi K30, which confirms that it will have a double front camera.
Redmi is currently in a great moment. The Xiaomi subsidiary has been able to position itself as a company with a more than relevant catalog, with terminals of exceptional value for money both in China and in countries such as Spain.
One of those models is the Redmi K20 , a device that has arrived in Spain, although under the name of Xiaomi Mi 9T.
Now Xiaomi has confirmed that the successor of that model, which will be called Redmi K30 but that could reach our market under another name, will have a double front camera.
A style similar to the Samsung Galaxy S10 Plus
The image published by Xiaomi shows a screen without notch in whose upper right corner appears an elongated perforation that houses the two front cameras.
This is something that we have already seen in the Samsung Galaxy S10 Plus although we expect that, unlike in that model, in this case we have a camera with a normal angle and one with a wide angle, the same as the Pixel 3, for example.
For now there has been no talk about the characteristics of these cameras but we surely know that before your ad.
The Redmi K30 will have 5G second generation
The Redmi K30 has been the protagonist of another image in which it is confirmed that it will have support for NA and NSA networks , which makes it one of the first terminals with access to 5G second generation. We already knew that it would have 5G connectivity , but now the type is confirmed.
Although it would be logical to expect these models to have Qualcomm’s high-end chipset, we may see them with a 600 or 700 series processor since the American company advanced that it would make these families compatible with 5G modems.
